Introduction

The most recent user guides will always be available at KioWare.com, Support menu, User Guides.  Keep in mind that user guides online may contain features that your version does not have.

KioWare Browser is a browser lockdown tool.  It is used to replace the existing default browser (Internet Explorer, FireFox, etc.) to prevent the user from modifying browser settings and provide access control. KioWare Browser contains two components: Browser and the Configuration Tool.

The Browser component replaces the existing browser and is invoked whenever the user wishes to view browser-based content.

The KioWare Browser Configuration Tool is a program that is used to modify KioWare Browser configuration settings and set a start page.

Note: If you run KioWare Browser WITHOUT first running the Configuration Tool and setting a start page, you will see a screen similar to the one below:

Welcome to KioWare screen

You will see a banner message at the bottom that says “This kiosk is not licensed”.  This is normal when running in Demo mode, and does not restrict the use of the product, unless your 500 hour demo time has run out.  When you install a valid license, this license banner will disappear. *

* You may still see the license banner if you installed the license with a wireless card enabled, or if using a multi-user or volume license.  We highly recommend disabling wireless network adapters before licensing because they can cause the kiosk to become unlicensed.  If you are using a multi-user or volume license, you will normally see the banner for about 10 seconds before it disappears.
