Overview

See the Best Practices section for important security info.

KioWare contains two components: KioWare and the KioWare Configuration Tool.

KioWare handles the execution of the HTML content application.  It provides security by preventing users and other processes from accessing the operating system or browser, filters keystrokes and displays attract screens when not in use, etc.

The KioWare Configuration Tool is a program that is used to modify KioWare configuration settings.  If you run KioWare without running the Config Tool first and setting a start page you will see a screen that looks like the one below:

Critical information: You NEED to run the Config Tool and set a start page.

You may also see a message at the bottom that says "Licensing check in progress".  This is normal when running in demo mode and does not stop the use of the kiosk, unless your 500 hour demo time has run out.  When you install a valid license, the license banner will go away (*1).

*1: You may still see the license banner if you installed the license with a wireless card enabled, and when you are using a multi or volume license.  We highly recommend disabling wireless network adapters before licensing because they can cause the kiosk to become unlicensed.  If you are using a multi or volume license you will normally see the banner for a minute or so before it goes away.
