KioWare Products and the Heartbleed Bug

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

All KioWare products are safe from the Heartbleed Bug.  None of the KioWare products use the vulnerable OpenSSL version.

If you are using KioWare products, you are already taking steps to protect your users and your devices from malicious attacks like that of the Heartbleed Bug.  Here are the best ways to use KioWare to protect from the Heartbleed Bug.

1.    Visit the KioWare Configuration Tool.  Update, review, or create an Access List of Allowed Websites.  This will restrict your device to only access website you have determined are safe.

2.    Check List of Allowed sites to ensure that they have been patched, if they were susceptible to the Heartbleed Bug.

While the instructions above are for configuring KioWare to allow access to only approved websites, KioWare for Android has a similar function for Android applications.  When using KioWare for Android, you will want to check your list of Allowed Applications.  If they access the internet, you will also want to confirm that they have been patched and/or are not vulnerable to the Heartbleed Bug.

With these additional steps, you can better protect your device from  viruses, malicious code or access, such as that of the Heartbleed Bug.
