Browser Emulation Mode
Also known as compatibility mode in Internet Explorer 8, our feature allows you to configure pages to run content in IE 8 or IE 7. IE 8 added the ability to render pages with strict standards compliance. This makes some web pages display improperly, so they also provided the ability to toggle modes.
· Internet Explorer 7: Renders pages just like IE 7.
· Internet Explorer 8: Renders pages like IE 7 unless the page claims to support IE 8.
· Internet Explorer 8 - Forced: Renders pages in IE 8 (strict compliance) mode. |

Remote Monitoring
To enable the current state of a kiosk to be monitored centrally, Remote Monitoring has been implemented. The functionality has two broad features: parameter monitoring and log file monitoring. OS parameter monitoring is contained within our Heartbeat feature. On a user defined time interval, KioWare collects system parameters such as uptime, disk space, pages served, etc. and using SOAP/XML passes the data to KioWare Server. In this way, each kiosk routinely checks in with KioWare Server giving baseline statistics, and kiosk maintenance can be performed based on whether a kiosk has failed to check in or on its baseline statistics trend.
KioWare also queries all specified kiosk hardware (ex., printers) and creates log file entries as necessary (ex., paper low). Certain high priority log entries are immediate transferred to KioWare Server for maintenance action, and the remaining log entries are transferred to KioWare Server during the next Heartbeat transmission. |

Embedded Phone Dialing
Previously, KioWare required phone numbers to be defined ahead of time and associated with a page’s HTML Title Tag. This worked fine for applications with a finite number of static phone numbers to dial; however, for applications that need to have thousands of phone numbers or need to look up the current phone number in a database, KioWare now has a second method: embedded phone dialing. With embedded phone dialing, a special HTML tag unique to KioWare is embedded in any page that requires a phone number to be dialed. The tag contains all the information KioWare requires to dial the phone number, and the tag can be generated on the fly as your application requires. |

Configuration Tool / XML Configuration Tool Merge
Previously, the Configuration Tool and XML Configuration Tool were two separate programs, now the Configuration Tool can read from either the KioWare Settings or from an XML file, and the Configuration Tool can save your changes to either KioWare Settings or to an XML file. |
File Download Blocking
KioWare can now prevent a user from downloading a file that Internet Explorer doesn’t know how to display, thus preventing the File Save or Open dialog box from displaying. |

XML Configuration Scheduling
KioWare has the capability to reload its XML configuration file effectively reconfiguring itself on the fly. This means KioWare can download a new XML file on whatever schedule you require (ex., hourly, daily, weekly, etc) and reconfigure itself. This is particularly useful for advertising applications where the advertisements regularly change.
Error Handling
A URL can be specified for KioWare to redirect to whenever a web server error is reported. Furthermore, there is the option to pass, as a URL querystring, the error number and filename upon which your error handler script can act. |

Ability to filter domains/pages for Usage Stats reports
You now have the ability to add categories in the Usage Stats reports. This enables you to view only the pages or domains listed in that category, instead of all pages or domains viewed by your users. For example, if you want to view only the usage reports for a rewards program you may be running, you can set those pages or domains as a particular category. |

Expansion of Server Journal Entries to every level (including Site, Group, Kiosk and Project)
This feature allows you to add notes to the different levels of your kiosk project (including Site, Group, Kiosk and Project). Prior to this, notes were only available at the kiosk level. But now if you want to make a note that pertains to a group of kiosks located at a particular store number or in the west wing of your building, you can. |
Additional support for seamless integration of remote management software
We have expanded our capabilities to use multiple remote management software within the same kiosk site. For example you can use Log Me In and VNC within the same site, so that if you prefer one to the other in some of the kiosk locations or are fazing one out, KioWare won’t hinder you from using either. |
Ability to add custom Server Commands
Previously Server commands, which tell the kiosk to complete a task from a batch file, were set from a fixed menu list, which included shut down kiosk, reboot, and restart KioWare. Now you can create custom commands in addition to the fixed list. For example, you could create a Server command to tell the kiosk to run its virus software. |
