YORK, Pa. -- A new version of KioWare Server has been released. KioWare Server 5.0 is now available with a total rewrite of KioWare’s kiosk management software that works toward the company’s goal to develop tools that efficiently enable our clients to deploy, manage, and secure self-service kiosk and purposed device solutions.
KioWare Server 5.0: A Complete Rewrite
This latest version of KioWare Server is a complete rewrite of KioWare’s kiosk management software. KioWare Server 5.0 uses .Net 5 to be cross-platform compatible with Windows and Linux. It has been designed from the ground-up to be efficient and scalable by leveraging Redis for advanced caching and inter-process communication as well as WebSocket technology for real-time communication with kiosks.
Database Update
KioWare Server 5.0 continues to support Microsoft SQL Server database and has replaced MySQL with PostgreSQL as an open-source database solution.
Significantly Improved UX
KioWare Server 5.0 was developed to meet the goal of improving user efficiency by minimizing clicks required to access useful information and includes powerful search tools that are fully responsive and completely functional on mobile devices. KioWare Server has never been more convenient.
Functionality Improved at Every Level
Content management within KioWare Server 5.0 now enables alpha and beta versions to easily be pushed to test devices before releasing final content into production. The KioWare configuration changes are now able to be pushed from the KioWare Configuration Tool directly to KioWare Server and automatically out to all associated kiosks within the network. Remote monitoring and management is also significantly improved with the new ‘Triggers and Actions’ feature. This feature enables a variety of events (for example: device errors, missed heartbeats, event logs, etc.) to trigger an unlimited number of actions as a result. The goal of ‘Triggers and Actions’ is to enable the automatic handling of events to minimize downtime, and in some cases automatically fix the problem. KioWare Server 5.0 also has support for Microsoft and Google SSO as well as Two Factor Authentication.
